Community Foundation Prepares for Give for Good on May 2

The Community Foundation of North Louisiana is set to host Give for Good for the fourth time on May 2. This exciting, online giving event empowers the people of North Louisiana to come together and raise as much money as possible for the 172 participating local nonprofits in just 24 hours.

The event begins at 12 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 and ends at 11:59 p.m. During these hours, all dollars raised through The Community Foundation’s giving website, will be amplified with more than $225,000 from the Lagniappe Fund. The Community Foundation has committed $100,000 to the Lagniappe Fund, with special thanks to the other corporate Lagniappe Fund donors: Grayson Foundation; Powers Foundation; Heard, McElroy & Vestal; CSRA, Inc.; Whole Foods Market; and donor advised funds at The Community Foundation.

In addition to real-time giving on May 2, donors also have the option of scheduling their gifts in advance of the big day. Beginning April 18, donors can visit the Give for Good website and schedule their gifts to be processed on May 2.

“Our goal in hosting Give for Good is to build a new generation of philanthropists for our community and show how important it is to give to nonprofit organizations in North Louisiana. We want to raise awareness about the many services they each provide to our community,” said Paula Hickman, executive director of The Community Foundation.  “Despite last year’s technical challenges, our community has shown strong support for the concept of celebrating philanthropy through a 24-hour day of giving. We are pleased to be working with new technology through CiviCore to create a positive experience for both donors and local nonprofits during Give for Good.”

The minimum donation that can be made is $10 and anyone can participate by visiting, or by stopping by one of the many events happening on May 2. The community is encouraged to watch the live-streaming leaderboard throughout the 24-hours to see the total dollar amount being raised.
