On September 18, LSUS will host its “50th Birthday Party” on the campus, taking place at the University Center Mall beginning at 11 a.m. LSUS invites the public, especially graduates, to come and help celebrate this significant milestone.
Piloting the celebration will be Chancellor Larry Clark, who will make the commemorative remarks. Special guests will include LSU President F. King Alexander, Bossier City Mayor Lo Walker, Shreveport Mayor Ollie Tyler, and some of the inaugural students, faculty and staff of LSUS. A special feature will be the opening of the LSUS time capsule from 1992, which will undoubtedly hold a treasure trove of memorabilia.
“This celebration marks a joyous time for LSUS,” said LSUS Chancellor Larry Clark. “It should remind the community that the university has been able to serve and educate thousands of students who have gone on to make an important mark in Shreveport-Bossier. Our graduates impact the social, cultural and economic prosperity of the community. It is only fitting that we invite the entire community to celebrate with us.”
The 50th Anniversary Birthday Party is the first of many events slated to be held on the LSUS campus over the next year as a way to celebrate its founding.
