Statewide job fairs planned to support disability employment

BATON ROUGE – In honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) is sponsoring multiple hiring events throughout the state during the month of October.

The 2017 Diversity Works Job Fair for NWLA will be held from 9 a.m. to noon October 31 at the Wyndham Garden Inn 1419 E. 70th St., Shreveport.

All of the fairs are free and open to the public, but are especially geared towards jobseekers with disabilities.

The 2017 Diversity Works Job Fairs are coordinated by the LWC’s Office of Workforce Development through the Ticket to Work program, which in the last 10 years, helped to employ 15,000 jobseekers with more than 1,500 businesses across Louisiana.

National Disability Employment Awareness Month is led by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy to educate the public about disability employment issues and to celebrate the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities.
